The Legal Services Group supports the entire Woolworths Group by providing thought leadership and professional and independent legal advice that addresses the company’s risk profile and helps guide our teams to lead the market. What you’ll do 

An exciting opportunity exists for a highly experienced Property paralegal to join our Legal Services Group in a full time capacity. In this role you will provide transactional and operational support for our Australian Supermarkets and will have exposure to wide ranging, interesting and varied property leasing matters. 


The role represents a superb opportunity to use your skills and experience to manage and support Woolworths’ Australian Supermarkets property portfolio. 


In this role, you will be responsible for working across all jurisdictions:

  • Drafting leases, licences, option deeds, deeds of work and related documents (e.g. deeds of covenant, caveats, withdrawal of caveats etc) for our Supermarket and Metro stores;

  • Assist with the management of the property portfolio work including preparation of option exercise notices, option leases and lease renewals;

  • Management of own acquisition and divestment sites from exchange to settlement as well as supporting lawyers in the administration of matters through to settlement;

  • Building and managing relationships with property and development managers; and

  • Assisting with development of systems and processes to improve effectiveness and efficiency.


What you’ll bring 

You’ll bring in significant experience as a property paralegal in a commercial leasing environment with a well-regarded legal firm with in-house legal team experience not essential but highly regarded.


Also, you’ll bring in:

  • Strong high attention to detail and strong organisational skills;

  • Strong and extensive drafting skills is essential;

  • Knowledge and experience of registration requirements across all jurisdictions highly regarded;

  • Personable, confident communicator and stakeholder management skills;

  • Able to prioritise competing demands and expectations whilst managing a large volume of matters;

  • Self-sufficient and self-motivated with the confidence to work independently but knows when to seek guidance; and

  • Ability to build trusted relationships with internal clients using balanced insights and impactful communication to influence decisions and actions.


In addition, you will be:

  • A resilient and collaborative professional who is comfortable dealing with ambiguity;  

  • A willingness to be adaptive to the businesses’ changing needs;

  • Able to identify and solve problems and make the complex simple for clients by framing information and advising in a clear and concise way;

  • A dynamic, energetic team player with a positive “can-do” attitude;

  • Self-motivated, customer first and solutions focused; and

  • Curious and not afraid to challenge the status quo in order to improve processes and create efficiencies.


What you’ll experience

As an integral member of our dynamic in-house legal team, you will work collaboratively with other legal advisors sharing your knowledge and insights and assisting on a range of property matters. We have hybrid working arrangements however, you will be required to attend our Bella Vista Head Office on Mondays and our CBD office at least once per week and you may need to work at other locations from time to time.
