What you’ll do

The Senior Category Manager - womenswear brings the BIG W Clothing transformation to life by driving the conception and development of all product in your portfolio by always driving commercial innovation & creativity. This position works closely with the Head of Clothing on designing and delivering strong business strategy that will aid in meeting category budgets as well as being a visionary leader to your product team. This position is responsible for leadership and direction around all aspects of the business including range sign off, sourcing, inventory, supplier performance and financial outcomes..You will establish and manage Clothing P&L’s in line with expectations, ensuring efficient use of resources and cost structure/spend allocation as well as maintain the brand’s identity and competitiveness in the market.


  • Build the mission strategy by gaining a thorough understanding of customer insights & the market to contribute to the BIG W strategy
  • Lead national and own brand sourcing, range builds & negotiations
  • Ensuring the seasonal range is well balanced and aligned to the business plan
  • Ensuring the supplier and product reference data is maintained in the team
  • Developing and managing strategies for Pricing/Margins and Competitors
  • Developing Strategies for National Brand Vendors
  • Managing financial performance including post-season analysis and optimising stock levels
  • Determining regular and promotion price strategies for the business
  • Executing business plans


What you’ll bring

  • Must have a strong womenswear background and own brand experience
  • Proven experience managing high-profile brands and categories
  • Demonstrated track record of exceeding financial KPIs, including driving sales growth with a focus on profitability
  • Extensive experience as a commercial buyer, successfully trading a sizeable clothing category in terms of both revenue and volume options.
