What you’ll do

At BIG W, our ambition is to become a purpose-led digital retailer enabled by a great store network. Central to this ambition is the way we use data, analytics and insights to make better, more informed strategic customer, team and business decisions and deliver automation and artificial intelligence capabilities to accelerate progress towards our ambition. 


You will support the translation of business use cases to data-driven opportunities, and lead the development and delivery of analytics projects in one of our Data & Analytics squads.


Some key responsibilities will include:


  • Drawing on your communication, business acumen and stakeholder engagement skills, facilitate the translation of use cases to analytical activities, and analytical activities to business value 
  • Provide technical thought leadership in applying descriptive analytics, statistical inference, experimentation and measurement to solve real problems and deliver tangible business value
  • Leveraging your expertise in SQL and deep domain business knowledge, ensure the technical accuracy and contextual relevance of your teams deliverables 
  • Support Data Engineers and Data Scientists with business context in the delivery of projects & features through your agile squad 
  • Develop business dashboards using the latest visualization tools and techniques
  • Evangelise the use of Data, Analytics & Insights capabilities, and coach cross-functional teams to understand where and when different techniques can create value


What you’ll bring

 We are looking for an experienced Senior Analyst with highly developed stakeholder management skills, collaborative problem solving mindset underpinned by technical proficiency in data manipulation and visualisation.


In addition, you will bring:


  • Ability to collaboratively partner with business stakeholders to deliver technical reporting solutions that effectively address business needs
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Advanced SQL skills to segment and extract insights from large datasets
  • Experience with visualisation tools like Tableau and Looker Data Studio is highly desirable
  • 3-4 years of experience in Analytics, any experience with Retail, FMCG, Operations or Logistics would be highly regarded but not essential
  • Deep understanding and passion for data, analytics and insights and how it can unlock real customer, team and business challenges
