What you’ll do

As a key member in an innovative and collaborative team, the Merchandising Optimisation Analyst enables strategic goals by leveraging technology for space optimization. This includes partnering with various teams to enhance store efficiency and customer experience through data-driven insights creating tailored store layouts through Planogram Generator with an understanding of impact on

range. The analyst also focuses on performance analysis and continuous improvement to unlock commercial opportunities.


  • Spearhead impactful and collaborative merchandising optimisation strategies across Commercial and Merchandising & Customer Value to deliver Supermarket priorities, exceptional customer value, and commercial goals.
  • Accountable user of our merch optimisation technology to create and govern action lists that produce store-specific space that drive the most effective and efficient space and commercial outcomes.
  • Lead and initiate with insights and commercial success by providing influential recommendations grounded in strong analytics of our merchandising principles and category performance.
  • Employ deep critical thinking and problem solving to optimise and find the best balance between range, merchandising and operational objectives & deliverables. 
  • Collaborate seamlessly across the entire Woolworths Group ecosystem, providing vital support to our valued partners across the business, including Metro.


What you’ll bring

  • A minimum of 3 years experience in relevant roles (eg: merchandising, category analyst, data & insight analyst, finance analyst, pricing analyst) - OR 

  •  Bachelor Degree in Business, Marketing, Finance or related subject or equal professional experience

  •  Proficient understanding of Google & Microsoft systems, with intermediate excel functions (eg: pivot tables, formulas, conditional formatting)

  •  Basic to intermediate GCP and/or SQL knowledge - advantageous

  • Knowledgeable in agency datasets (Quantium, Shopper Intelligence, Circana or equivalent
