Design Fit Specialist - 12 Month Contract

What you’ll do

The 12 month contract Designer Role is responsible for leading the Fit Excellence project on behalf of Big W Clothing Own Brand. 

Partnering with the Fit & Construction team to align to the BIG W fit standards, working with E2E teams to drive product ranges our customers can trust BIG W fit, quality and value. Partnering with project team to deliver digital tools which enhance right first time product ranges and fit.


  • Build and lead the delivery of the Fit Project product group roadmap, partnering E2E with key stakeholders to lead the design intent, fit and size consistency across clothing.

  • Work closely with the Product Design team to create ranges that are data and insights led, aligned to strategic delivery.

  • Ability to create a design and technical brief to drive product creation; led by customer insights and analytics

  • Garment construction knowledge including pattern making and understanding of grading to drive product fit simplification

  • Broad knowledge / understanding of Womenswear, Menswear and Kidswear.

  • Collaborate with BIG W Compliance and Quality team on Standards, sizing, testing and other requirements to ensure a safe and compliant product


What you’ll bring

  • Formal qualification in Fashion Design , with experience in product development, garment construction.
  • Previous experience in a Design role for a medium-large retail business leading design with medium complexity of options. 
  • Expertise in one or more areas of design, womenswear, mens, kids wear.
  • Previous experience leading projects, product development working with multiple stakeholders locally and internationally
