Our team of customer and supplier-focussed lawyers is part of the broader Woolworths Legal team, which collectively supports the entire Woolworths Group ecosystem. The Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for a retail regulatory lawyer to join our team, working across the Woolworths Group, with a focus on competition and consumer matters, as well as providing support to the partnering with and supporting our WFC, WLiving and eComX businesses on other regulatory matters.
We are looking for a lawyer with a desire to work across the Woolworths Group on competition and consumer law matters, as well as partnering with the legal teams supporting the WLiving and eComX businesses on a range of this diverse group of businesses on retail regulatory matters including competition, Australian Consumer Law, Grocery Code, product safety, restricted products, liquor licensing and pharmacy regulatory issues.
What you’ll do:
In this role, you will provide day-to-day legal advice to a range of stakeholders across our Group.
This role is fast-paced, varied and will involve advising on competition and consumer law, including new strategic customer propositions, advertising and marketing, product safety compliance and supplier relationship matters - all in a dynamic environment, where the customer is at the heart of what we do.
- Provide practical and commercially sound advice to stakeholders on on retail regulatory matters including competition law, Australian Consumer Law, product safety, restricted products, liquor licensing, pharmacy and other key regulatory issues;
- Advise on end to end strategic customer propositions, along with marketing and advertising matters; and
- Advise on managing consumer complaints, including complaints submitted via regulators.
What you’ll bring:
- 3-5 PQE (preferably gained with a reputable law firm and/or at a relevant in-house role);
- Sound legal and commercial judgement and a problem solving mindset;
- Confidence to work independently, with the judgement to escalate to senior stakeholders where required;
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the capacity to deal confidently with stakeholders;
- Ability to perform and thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on and rapidly changing team environment; and
- A proactive, can-do approach, including in developing competence and confidence in various areas of retail regulatory law.
