The M&A and Corporate Development team supports Woolworths Group by providing leadership and commercial advice in the identification, assessment and execution of business development, strategic investment, M&A and capital markets transactions. As a Group, we are outcome focused and aspire to provide best in class leadership, advice and transaction execution. We are an important enabler of business performance and work closely with the Woolworths Board and senior management, as well as partnering with the business and other support functions on strategic opportunities.
Our capabilities extend across business development initiatives, partnerships and strategic investments as well as acquisitions, divestments, portfolio restructuring and capital markets transactions. Our responsibilities include identification and assessment of potential transactions as well as all aspects of transaction execution. More specifically, our responsibilities extend across market and financial analysis, due diligence, transaction structuring and negotiation as well as the preparation of materials and agreements for the approval and execution of transactions.
About the role:
This role partners with senior management, M&A and strategy teams on critical strategic initiatives including portfolio restructuring, business development and other corporate finance transactions
Key Responsibilities:
The main responsibilities of the role include:
Supporting operational management on business acquisitions and divestments;
Assisting in the transaction due diligence process;
Undertaking research on potential growth strategies and acquisitions;
Building detailed financial valuation and returns models;
Preparing and presenting materials for Woolworths leadership in relation to potential transactions, growth strategies and transaction approvals.
About You:
Undergraduate qualification in a relevant discipline such as Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Economics, is essential.
At least 18 months relevant work experience gained in top tier investment banking, strategy consulting, private equity or venture capital investing, Big 4 accounting firms or similar corporate development roles.
Demonstrated ability to extract valuable insights from complex analysis for the business.
Strong financial acumen, including valuation / financial modelling skills
A business partnering approach to work by using data, insights and critical problem solving skills to ensure quality advisory interaction and deliver impactful change
A commercial and strategic focus in influencing and advising stakeholders
Able to present solutions in a clear and articulate manner, tailoring style to suit the needs of the stakeholder
A good understanding of the retail / consumer industry
