What You'll Do


You'll be part of the team that are the go-to experts for all things industrial and workplace relations across Woolworths New Zealand. This means partnering with business leaders and departments to provide advice, guidance, and support in relation to all matters connected to industrial and workplace relations. Your goal will be to ensure a consistent approach across Woolworths New Zealand, that enables our businesses to put customers and teams first, while also identifying and making recommendations for managing industrial and employment-related risks. You'll provide essential advice and support for employment-related transactions like collective bargaining, employment compliance, people policies, and major workplace changes affecting team members' employment.

Other key responsibilities in this role:

  • Maintain constructive relationships with union representatives.
  • Manage the end-to-end collective agreement bargaining process.
  • Ensure compliance with employment and industrial laws.
  • Develop practical industrial relations strategies and tactics to support business objectives.
  • Coach and guide business leaders on agreement interpretation.
  • Support change processes across the business.
  • Review and update people policies and related documents.
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing across teams.


What you'll bring


You're an exceptional communicator with a knack for building rapport and influencing others. You're known for your sound judgment, integrity, and ability to navigate a busy environment with ease.

You'll bring:

  • Deep knowledge of New Zealand employment legislation.
  • Proven collective bargaining and negotiation skills.
  • Strong analytical abilities to turn data into actionable insights.
  • A collaborative, customer-first mindset and a genuine care for people.
  • The ability to coach and develop others in people processes.
  • Ideally, 2+ years of experience in employment relations or human resource management.
