As a team, we leverage Agile ways of working to help our team develop their skills while also making sure our team is focusing on solving the most complex problems for both our customers and team.
What you’ll do
This is a tri role with home team leadership accountability, delivery leadership accountabilities and leadership for an external consultant team.
The role is highly strategic and covers a complex set of stakeholder groups across multiple disciplines and geographies, with plans for growth into other Woolworths Group businesses that will further increase scope and complexity.
Home accountability:
Lead, coach and develop a high performing team of Demand Planning, Network Strategy and Insights team members. Some of these team members will form the leadership layer for delivery squads across eComX.
The Home team responsibilities span three different analytical skillsets:
- Sr and Jr Network Analysts
- Sr and Jr Insights Analysts
- Demand Planning Managers
Delivery accountability:
This role has project and ongoing BAU responsibilities for eComX Australia and New Zealand including as well as complex vendor relationship and leadership responsibilities across the two geographies.
Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Demand Planning (Australian and New Zealand)
- Lead teams to create complex predictive models that provide the 10 year eCom sales ambition across Australia and New Zealand
- Work with BU directors and Managing directors to understand their business objectives, strategies and ambitions to overlay organic growth models with strategic adjustments and ensure Network Plans are built for the future business
- Analysis and insights
- Provide strategic analysis related to eCom Network, eCom demand and competitor strategies in this field, to Group and eCom Strategy teams for BU, Platform and Board level presentations and actions
- Develop reporting and dashboards to monitor Network health provide decision support to BU directors
- Lead analysts and provide thought leadership in value adding analysis such as service gap studies that identify geographic areas that are under penetrated based on demographic and psychographic predictions then work with operations teams to adjust store proposition capacities to unlock sales
Network Strategy development (Australian and New Zealand)
- Lead the manager and analyst teams and provide thought leadership into complex statistical analysis and modeling to develop and design the eCom Network
- Provide thought leadership and collaborate with SMEs to understand technological innovations such as robotics and automation to identify the optimal end to end Network across all propositions that satisfies our Business objectives
Business case development (Australian and New Zealand)
- Drive the analysis to input into the ideal size, timing and prioritisation for a $2B+ 10 year capital plan for investments to support the eCom business, aligned with Tribe GM and relevant BU, Platform and Finance stakeholders. (Across Australian and NZ, likely other Group businesses e.g. PFD in the near future, early discussions with Big W and W-living)
- Collaborate with Property Teams to develop capital plans for property purchases and provide modelling and support to their acquisitions
What you’ll bring
This is a broad ranging role, which requires skills and experience across technical capabilities, people leadership and a high level of stakeholder engagement. We are looking for a candidate with a strong outcome focus with the ability to deal with ambiguity and identify the right direction for the team.
Required experience
- Leadership, influence, adaptability, judgment & business acumen, collaboration, managerial, interpersonal, etc.
- Advanced analytics leadership skills - Ability to lead teams to generate value-add insights from complex data and make recommendations based on Business strategies
- Bachelor's degree, ideally with STEM or Advanced analytics based disciplines, advanced degree desirable
- 10+ years of relevant analytics, supply chains retail / industry experience necessary
- 5+ years in leadership positions that influence executive and platform level strategic direction
- 5+ years working in technical development and delivery – proficient in Python and SQL with optional experience using GCP or other Cloud Based Data Lake / Warehouse
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Demonstrated ability to influence, establish and maintain strong relationships with SLT and Group Platform level stakeholders
- Demonstrable skills in leading large high performing teams, matrix management, influencing and collaboration
- Ability to clearly understand and able to work through Problem, Cause, Solution to seek continual improvement
- Talent development, retention, and performance management.
- Understanding and ability to influence at a senior level in an engaging way to drive trust & collaboration
- Experience in retail operations, supply chain
- Strong Strategic, operational, financial and business acumen
- Understanding of current eCommerce global landscape with specific focus on fulfillment and automation future
- Understanding of data science principles and capabilities
- Track record of managing and delivering large scale complex analytical teams
- Horizontal Leadership capabilities and the ability to work well in a pressured situation
