Welcome to the Property Team

The Woolworths Property group is accountable for all property undertakings for the organisation. It exists to provide comprehensive proactive property solutions to support Woolworths Retail businesses and their future growth. As a key part of the QLD Team, you will assist in strategically growing the trading supermarket business through the delivery of new stores and optimisation of existing network together with supporting the retail operations team through effective and professional property management duties.

What you’ll do

As an experienced Development Manager you will be managing the approval process through relevant authorities and proactively converting opportunities into best in class retail facilities that are delivered, from acquisition to completion, in a timely manner. Woolworths developments complement the community and environment and provide high quality customer amenity. 

You will also:

• Work with the Property Development team to deliver Supermarket Anchored Neighbourhood Centres, including identifying and sourcing retail development sites through varied acquisition strategies, seeking and achieving Approval outcomes for the Centres with the relevant Authorities and Delivering on those Approvals through Construction, Leasing and Centre Opening.
• Achieve internal and authority approvals for projects that maximise amenity and financial outcome for Woolworths and satisfy long term community outcomes.
• Maintain and grow key relationships with external landowners and developers.
• Take a visionary and strategic approach to the planning of retail centres and mixed-use developments 

What you’ll bring:

Our new Development Manager will have a tertiary Property Degree and 5+ years of experience within a similar / property related position. Your demonstrated experience in negotiating, site acquisition, design and planning approvals for retail and/or mixed-use commercial developments will help you to succeed in this role. You will also have:

• A strong planning and development background and lived in high volume experience with commercial acquisitions.
• Broad knowledge of property economics, legislation, valuation, planning, property law, deal structures.
• Knowledge of Design/Architecture concepts and an understanding of and experience in liaising with local government and authorities, 
• Project planning and financial planning experience along with an understanding of analysis and well-developed commercial acumen.
