What you’ll do
Part of the Range and Better Buying team, this role is responsible for partnering across the commercial (buying) teams to deliver on refreshed category plans, improved financials through COGS negotiation support and driving strategic initiatives to deliver on our customer promise., Successful delivery in this role will be underpinned by effectively leveraging our data to create insights to inform and reshape our customer offer and drive growth, identifying and generating opportunities for value creation with suppliers.
This role is part of the Commercial Excellence function, newly created this year to enable our commercial teams to optimise commercial operations and drive revenue growth and profitability. On a day-to-day basis, you will be expected to:
Partner with Category Managers, Merch Planners and other key stakeholders in the creation of data led insights, providing recommendations on category strategy and influencing cross functionally to land customer first results
Develop our supplier engagement approach to maximise collaboration and value creation
Identify category opportunities through structured analysis and problem solving across different areas; including customer behaviour, market trends, category performance, pricing, supplier dynamics
Incorporate strategic insights from qualitative and quantitative consumer and category research into category strategy, with an articulation of available levers in supplier negotiation
Supporting and influencing category teams in cost and supplier negotiations
What you’ll bring
Commercially-savvy analyst with a track record of partnering to deliver high-impact initiatives
Strong communication skills with an ability to convey concepts to technical and non-technical people in a clear and unambiguous manner
Clear and high calibre presentation of information (verbal and written) for our stakeholders
Ability to simplify the complex, and break down problems in a structured manner
Bachelor Degree in Business, Marketing, Finance or related subject or equal professional experience (1-3 year retail/ category analyst experience)
Advanced Excel skills, SQL knowledge is a plus
Previous experience as a commercial business analyst, category analyst or strategy analyst highly valued
