The Opportunity
The primary responsibility of this role is to review, investigate and provide insights on our New Zealand produce manufacturing, specifically reviewing the gains or losses generated during the production process. This includes preparing balance sheet reconciliations, managing Business Unit queries, performing User Acceptance Testing (UAT), closing Business Unit monthly results, as well as supporting the wider team in driving continuous improvements across all aspects of the team’s performance.
What you’ll do
- Holistic P&L and Balance Sheet reconciliation review with analysis and insightful reporting for specific areas
- Preparation/Oversee Financial Statement Analysis notes to the Woolworths Financial Statements at HY and FY
- Ensure balance sheet reconciliations are prepared and reviewed effectively inline with the Balance Sheet Reconciliation Guidelines, taking full ownership of quality and timeliness of completion.
- Communication of risks/opportunities in the balance sheet to stakeholders
- Drive and lead continuous improvement to add value for our business partners
- Deliver insightful analysis and recommendations to business partners
- Maintain an effective understanding of business and reporting considerations
- Maintain stakeholder relationships within various Business Units
- Oversee the Month End close process for Business Units
- Provide support across the team including BAU and leave coverage when required.
- Perform and review User Acceptance Testing for any changes to the System Environment
What you’ll bring
- 5+ years of relevant experience, exposure in retail/large corporate will be advantageous
- You will have a finance related degree with a CA or CPA qualification (or studying towards)
- Expertise in reconciling complex accounts, including bank statements, general ledger accounts, and intercompany transactions.
- Deep understanding and practical application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Strong experience using financial systems in a commercial environment e.g. Google Suite, SAP, BPC, GCP and Excel
- Strong analytical skills to interpret financial data, identify trends, and provide insights for decision-making.
