About the Role | Mō te Tūranga

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Media and PR team where you’ll use all your skills and experience to help us tell our story to kiwis. You'll be instrumental in leading day-to-day media relations, and will be a key point of contact for media and other stakeholders.

Being able to build trust and strong relationships with journalists is an important part of this role and you'll be responsible for developing proactive communication plans and pitches while balancing reactive responses.

You’ll support our spokespeople to shine when they get in front of journalists and when things go wrong, you'll provide crucial communications support for external issues and crisis situations.

You’ll also frequently work alongside our external agency partners, helping them to do great work on our behalf.

About You | Mōu

As an expert in the field of media relations and communications, you'll possess a deep understanding of the New Zealand media landscape, coupled with a keen curiosity about the country's political landscape and policymaking processes. You'll bring solid experience across the communications mix and you’ll be comfortable in managing media inquiries, whether positive or negative, often under tight deadlines all while showcasing your superior written skills.

A key strength will be your ability to establish trusted working relationships with journalists and senior executives alike. You'll also be adept at identifying opportunities for proactive media coverage, building a pitch and getting it in front of the right journalist.

This role demands someone who is highly organised with excellent communication skills, a solid grasp of current affairs, and a strong general news sense, along with a demonstrated ability to thrive in a large, complex environment.
