What you’ll do

The People Data and Insights team seeks a motivated Data Analyst. The role involves leveraging analytical skills to transform raw data into actionable insights, making People data accessible, unlocking insights into team experience and advocacy, and ultimately making Woolworths a preferred workplace.


Working with multiple stakeholders across the Woolworths Group you are/will:


  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business objectives and problems and suggest data-driven solutions to inform actions
  • Analyse large data sets using statistical and data mining techniques to identify trends and patterns
  • Create clear and compelling visualisations to communicate findings to stakeholders
  • Craft narratives that translate complex data into understandable stories that resonate with stakeholders
  • Build persona based, user centric analytical/reporting solutions; through the use of SQL querying logic, Tableau and Looker
  • Manage automated access to reports and dashboards through detailed role-based permissions in GCP/Tableau
  • Ensure the accuracy and reliability of data sources and analysis methodologies
  • Observe data privacy principles, maintain confidentiality and ensure data security
  • Maintain and update documentation including; process; specifications, support documents and testing scripts
  • Build and maintain great working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including senior leadership


What you’ll bring

You are a natural problem-solver, driven to create solutions that meet business needs. You are an exceptional communicator and a collaborative team player, able to execute plans effectively. You are excited to work with a data-focused team, always orienting yourself towards what is meaningful, purposeful, and delivers value. You have:


  • 2 + years experience with People data and reporting 
  • A degree in Information Technology or relevant discipline
  • Advanced skills in querying, extracting and wrangling data
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform (Data Storage, Dataprep, BigQuery, Data Studio, Sheets, Slides)
  • Ability to work with large volumes of data with complex definitions
  • Experience in data analysis and insight generation
  • Advanced knowledge and application of table relationships, advanced querying in applications, aggregate queries, macros, and pivot tables
  • Knowledge of Tableau and/or Looker (or similar application)
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • An enquiring and questioning mindset and attention to detail
  • A self motivator that has an end-to-end skill set, with a strong technical background and a customer-centric approach 
  • Not required, but advantageous if you have previously worked in an Agile team
