What you’ll do | Hei mahi
Seeking a proactive Test Engineer on a 12 months fixed term contract to foster a "quality-first" culture. This role involves building and maintaining UI test automation, coaching developers on modern testing, and "shifting left" testing efforts for faster, better product delivery.
As our new Test Engineer, you will be responsible for
- Hands-on UI Automation: Design, develop, and maintain a robust and scalable UI test automation suite using our primary framework (e.g., Cypress, Playwright, or Selenium).
- Embedded Collaboration: Work side-by-side with developers and product managers on a daily basis, participating in planning sessions, design discussions, and code reviews.
- Champion Shift-Left Testing: Proactively identify quality risks and testing needs during the requirements and design phases, long before code is written.
- Coaching & Mentoring: Guide developers in writing their own effective unit and integration tests. Act as the team's go-to expert on testing best practices, tools, and quality mindset.
- Process Improvement: Continuously analyze and improve our quality processes and CI/CD pipeline integration.
What you’ll bring | Hei koha
Working in our highly collaborative environment, you’ll be tasked with not only testing but also engaging with a variety of teams-from technical to functional. You’ll be passionate about building quality in, not just finding bugs at the end. They should be able to articulate the "why" behind testing practices.
To be great in this role, you will need to demonstrate
- Proven UI Test Automation Experience: Strong, hands-on experience (3+ years) with modern UI automation frameworks like Cypress or Playwright. Experience with Selenium is also acceptable.
- Solid Coding Skills: Proficiency in a programming language used for testing, preferably JavaScript/TypeScript. The candidate must be able to write clean, maintainable code.
- CI/CD Pipeline Knowledge: Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines
- API Testing Fundamentals: Understanding of how to test APIs both REST and GraphQL as modern UIs are heavily reliant on them.
