The opportunity 

At Woolworths, we believe in putting our customers and team first. The Risk Partner role sits within ‘Partnering’ in the Group Risk Platform. 

The Risk Partner role will play an important leadership role in the delivery of the Group Risk ambition to guide business and corporate functions to make risk-informed choices with confidence and help them focus on what matters most. They will do this through the business unit partnering mission to shape BU/platform decisions to achieve commercial outcomes in line with risk appetite, leveraging Group tools and frameworks. 


This role partners with corporate functions Exco & Senior Leadership Teams to understand risks and opportunities and provide them with reliable risk insight to drive value generating decisions. First focal point of contact for the business, the window into risk. A large proportion of capacity will be spent partnering, and the balance of capacity will be delivering scalable solutions and services in the Group Risk platform. 


What you’ll do 

Reporting to the General Manager - Group Platforms Risk, your responsibilities include: 


  • Partnering with the People Team in a ‘line 2’ role to deliver the Risk Management strategy, embed a risk culture, enable business objectives to be achieved within risk appetite, and enable the organisation to operate in a safe and sustainable manner 
  • Operating with an end to end Group-wide lens, considering the potential impact of actions at the People Team level on the plans and strategies of other teams 
  • Actively participate in the Strategic Planning process to ensure that risk issues are appropriately addressed in the Strategic Plan and Risk Appetite 
  • Constructively challenging the business on key risks and control activities, with the aim of supporting the development of commercial and practical risk solutions, which enhance business processes.
  • Influencing appropriate risk management prioritisation to enable operations to meet strategic objectives


What you’ll bring 

  • Strong technical understanding of risk and demonstrated application of risk management principles preferably in both professional services and within a commercial environment 
  • Demonstrated ability to build relations and influence senior stakeholders to achieve risk outcomes Strong analytical and problem solving skills with experience in data analysis and interpretation 
  • Drive and passion to champion and implement change 
  • Ability to lead work, simplify complex problems and develop practical solutions 
  • Experience in working in large and complex pay and industrial relations environment would be advantageous
