Come and join us at 52 Colquhoun Rd, Perth Airport WA 6105. We have recently upgraded and extended our ripening facilities where we ripen avocados and bananas. The role will be based at our Distribution Centre, full time hours with shift work from Monday to Friday 3pm - 12am.
What you’ll do
Manage and optimise the fruit ripening process to ensure consistent quality and colour standards through regular monitoring and room adjustments.
Conduct thorough intake and outturn inspections to assess all consignments against quality and labelling specifications, ensuring compliance with Woolworths requirements and relevant legislation.
Collaborate with commercial and operations teams on fruit planning, scheduling, and capacity management, and help resolve store feedback to align supply with demand.
Coordinate distribution centre (DC) activities including room loading and unloading, supervising MHE operators, and managing accurate system movements and pick location allocations for ripened fruit.
Carry out routine product testing (including maturity assessment such as Dry Matter), and use sampling data to refine ripening processes and account for seasonal variability.
Perform regular in-store quality checks and on-site audits to evaluate ripening effectiveness, ensure best practices are followed, and maintain hygiene and equipment standards.
Monitor and maintain all ripening equipment, identifying and addressing maintenance needs in collaboration with DC teams and service contractors.
Proactively foster continuous improvement by building strong knowledge of products, suppliers, growing conditions, and seasonal trends to enhance ripening strategies.
What you’ll bring
Ripening experience highly valued but not a pre-requisite
Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to identify opportunities and proactively share insights with relevant stakeholders. Problem identification and resolution.
Willingness to learn, collaborate with the wider team and adapt with changing conditions
Excellent organisation and time management skills
Demonstrated experience in basic computer literacy
Driven and self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously
Ability to understand business processes
Be passionate about fruit and veg and agriculture
Willingness to work set rostered hours; Monday to Friday 3pm - 12am
