What you’ll do
We’re looking for an experienced Product Developer and Passionate foodie to join our Fresh Protein team here in Australia. Our innovative and high-performing Product Development team work at the cutting edge of development to deliver on our own brand food, non-food, and packaging sustainability commitments, contributing to the global sustainability agenda and supporting the health of Australians, through our commitment to Healthiest Own Brand.
As a Product Developer in Fresh you will be responsible for interpreting customer needs, lifestyle trends, and commercial insights and formulating a suitable product development and maintenance plan for the portfolio of Own Brand and Exclusive branded product ranges, aligned to our category strategies and our Woolworths Own Brand positioning. You will work with Suppliers and internal stakeholders to bring new products to market ensuring that we consistently delight our customers with real choice, innovation, quality and value, exceeding their expectations, whilst contributing to market share growth. The Product Developer sets the Quality standards and organoleptic characteristics of the product. You will:
- Identify and interpret lifestyle, customer and food trends and commercial insights and incorporate them into category strategy
- Possess Product and Packaging knowledge for delivering product development successfully
- Set 1-3 year development plans for existing product ranges, to ensure their ongoing commercial success and growth
- Deliver the product strategy, developing products in line with the Woolworths Brand values
- as well as continually monitoring performance of new products, quality and sales, and agree appropriate action with the team
- Set Quality standards, through defining clear product attributes, and continually benchmarking and challenging standards to maintain clear differences
What you’ll bring
- Minimum 2 years experience in Retail and/or Commercial
- Prior experience in retail product development
- Prior experience in supplier development/management
- Prior experience with customer data/insights
- Ability to gather and analyse customer data and use these to support strategic direction / development plans
- Evidence of passion for product and knowledge of product trends
- Strong personal organisational and project management skills
