The Opportunity
This role is strategically based in Canberra to centrally support 40 Supermarkets. The position requires strong collaboration with key regional stakeholders, including the Operations Manager, two Group Managers, the Team Experience Partner, and the Safety Partner, all of whom are based in the region. This will include areas like the Riverina (Griffith, Wagga Wagga) and the Central Tablelands (Dubbo, Orange).

What you’ll do
- Dual-Jurisdictional Compliance: Manage end-to-end workers' compensation claims across ACT and NSW, ensuring strict adherence to the Workers Compensation Act 1951 (ACT) and SIRA Guidelines (NSW).
- Strategic Stakeholder Management: Partner with Senior Operations and Group Managers to align injury management outcomes with retail KPIs, such as wage budgets and premium reduction.
- Medical Case Conferencing: Attend medical reviews to negotiate capacity upgrades and advocate for suitable duties, bridging the gap between clinical restrictions and retail operational needs.
- Early Intervention Advocacy: Act as the "Early Care Ambassador" for the Zone, providing timely and appropriate care for our team members.
- Dual Insurer Oversight: Manage performance for GIO (ACT) and DXC (NSW), ensuring timely liability decisions, appropriate and timely treatment, increasing work capacity, and outcome-driven rehabilitation.
- Conflict Resolution & Mentoring: Resolve complex disputes between store leadership and injured workers by promoting the "Health Benefits of Good Work" and coaching managers on RTW obligations.
What you’ll bring
- Proven Claims Portfolio Management: Experience managing a high-volume portfolio of active claims and early care cases, within a fast-paced retail or similar environment.
- Dual-State Legislative Expertise: Deep technical knowledge of the ACT private sector scheme and NSW Self-Insurance models, including audit requirements and legislative timelines.
- Allied Health Background: A degree in Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, or Exercise Physiology is highly regarded.
- Strategic Coaching: Demonstrated track record of remotely mentoring and training large groups of Store Managers
- Data-Driven Triage: Proficiency in analysing claims data to identify trends, such as manual handling risks, and developing targeted interventions to lower costs.
- Self-Insurance Proficiency: Direct experience working within a NSW Self-Insurance framework, with a focus on maintaining audit standards that exceed basic regulatory requirements.
