What you’ll do


Category Manager brings the BIG W Strategy to life by delivering the Category Strategy to buy the best range and create value  for our customers to maximise sales, profit and customer satisfaction and optimise inventory.


Additionally you will;


  • Drive category performance by maintaining a strong understanding of consumer technology trends, new product launches, and shifting shopper behavior.
  • Manage product lifecycle and curate the product range to meet customer demand, ensuring optimal assortment and planning for seasonal peaks.
  • Conduct thorough competitor and market analysis to benchmark pricing and promotions, while managing margins and profitability by understanding P&L drivers and cost structures.
  • Lead supplier negotiation to secure the best cost prices, promotional funding, and marketing support, focusing on building strong, lasting partnerships.
  • Utilise strong influencing skills to collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, supply chain, and online teams, ensuring internal alignment on range, pricing, and promotional strategies.


What you’ll bring


We are looking for a proactive and resilient individual who thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. You are a natural connector of people and ideas, with a passion for retail and creating amazing customer experiences.


  • Previous experience as a commercial retail buyer, successfully trading a sizeable category in terms of $ and options. 
  • Strong stakeholder management & influencing skills
  • Attention to detail and time management 
  • Reporting and presentation skills
