What you'll do

The Head of Technology Enablement is a senior technology leader whose purpose is to accelerate engineering delivery and reduce operational risk across the business. This is achieved by building and leading the high-performing teams responsible for providing stable, secure, and reliable shared platforms, infrastructure, and tools. This role enables our product-focused engineering teams to move faster and focus on delivering business value, confident that the underlying platforms are performant, scalable, and secure.

  • Strategic Leadership: Build, lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing engineering capability across Security, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Operations, and Technical Support. Foster a culture of collaboration, operational excellence, and continuous improvement. Clearly articulating the purpose and value of your team to the broader business strategy.

  • Platform Reliability & SRE: Accountable for the reliability, scalability, and performance of all production systems. Define and enforce Service Level Objectives (SLOs), manage a best-in-class incident response and post-mortem process, and drive automation to reduce toil.

  • Cloud Infrastructure & FinOps: Own the strategy, architecture, and management of all cloud infrastructure (e.g., GCP/AWS, Kubernetes). Drive cost-optimisation and financial accountability through a robust FinOps practice.

  • Security Operations (SecOps): Accountable for the operational security of our platforms, including security monitoring, incident response, vulnerability management, and ensuring systems are built and operated to the highest security standards.

  • Developer Enablement: Empower engineering teams to deliver value faster by providing advanced, automated tooling for CI/CD, observability, and developer productivity.

  • Technical Support & Service Delivery: Oversee all technical support functions, ensuring efficient and effective service delivery, managing escalations, and meeting or exceeding customer expectations.

  • Stakeholder Management: Act as the key partner for product engineering leads, senior management, and vendors, aligning the technology enablement roadmap with business objectives and ensuring clear communication.

  • Group Collaboration & Alignment: Actively collaborate with technology, security, and infrastructure counterparts across the wider Woolworths Group to ensure strategic alignment, identify opportunities for leverage, and contribute to the broader group's technology goals.

What You’ll Bring

  • Proven experience in a senior technology leadership role (e.g., Head of Operations, Head of SRE, Head of Platform) managing diverse, multi-disciplinary engineering teams.

  • Demonstrable experience building and scaling reliable, secure, and high-performance infrastructure in a large-scale, cloud-native environment.

  • Extensive experience developing operational strategy, managing significant budgets, and driving FinOps maturity.

  • A strong background in fostering a modern engineering culture (e.g., SRE, DevOps, CI/CD) and improving developer productivity.

  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the proven ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical and executive audiences.

  • Deep technical expertise in public cloud platforms (e.g., GCP, AWS) and container orchestration (Kubernetes).

  • Strong, practical understanding of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles, observability, and incident management.

  • Expertise in modern security operations (SecOps), security tooling, and compliance frameworks.

  • Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform), and developer automation tools.

  • Experience with ITIL/ITSM frameworks and best practices for running effective technical support and service delivery functions.
