The Opportunity

BIG W eCom is a dynamic, growing business, with strong growth in new customers, products and we are passionate about making a real difference for families.  We aim to drive increased convenience for our customers, improved store processes to unlock better and faster online experiences for our customers.  This role will primarily focus on facilitating the financial performance, insights, reporting, forecasting and budgeting eCom Operations and Marketplace. As a member of the BIG WX Finance team, you will act as a commercial business partner and trusted advisor who understands the business’ strategic direction and needs. You will work alongside business partners as they seek to optimise productivity across eCom Operations. You will collaborate to shape successful business decisions and maintain trust and credibility through an independent voice whilst maintaining the financial integrity of the business.


What you’ll do

  • Commercial Business Partnering & Performance
    • Own the financial narrative for our Digital Operations, delivering timely and insightful reporting on weekly and month-end performance across eCommerce and Marketplace. Go beyond the numbers to provide actionable commentary.
    • Act as a key finance partner to the eCommerce Operations, Carrier, and Store Operations teams. Provide deep-dive analysis and commercial insights to optimise key cost drivers, including fulfilment productivity, store labour, and freight.
    • Drive process improvement initiatives by identifying and tracking opportunities for efficiency and cost savings within our end-to-end fulfilment network including Marketplace.
  • Strategic Analysis & Project Delivery
    • Support strategic decision-making by developing robust financial models and business cases for new initiatives, capital investments, and digital projects.
    • Contribute to key planning cycles, including annual budgeting and forecasting, ensuring Digital financial targets are ambitious yet achievable (across eCom and Marketplace).
    • Engage in ad-hoc commercial analysis and project work as required, providing financial expertise to support the broader finance and digital team on emerging opportunities and challenges.

Other desired competencies for this role include:

  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
  • SQL skills would be preferred for accessing and manipulating large datasets, as well as GCP familiarity
  • Strong data analysis and modelling skills to analyse and summarise high volumes of data.
  • Strong presentation skills and able to communicate effectively to a broad range of individuals/audiences in a simple and concise manner.
  • Commercial, analytical, and passionate to drive results.
  • Competent knowledge of financial accounting standards and ability to interpret and apply the frameworks as required.
