The Opportunity
Due to an internal promotion we have a permanent opportunity to join our Procurement team. The role of the Category Specialist – Packaging and Consumables is responsible for Supporting and delivering complex category strategies across the Procurement lifecycle. You will support Procurement to partner across Woolworths Group to deliver sustainable change.
You will get exposure to a range of Consumables and Packaging materials across the Goods Not For Resale space covering the Woolworths ecosystem in Australia and NZ. The position is within the Procurement Team and reports to the Portfolio Manager Packaging and Consumables. In this role, you will balance Sustainability, Product Development, Operations and best fit approach adhering to Procurement Policies.
What you’ll do
Develop a comprehensive understanding of all category influencers with the goal of becoming the business-wide category subject matter expert.
Coordinate, create, prepare strategic deliverables for our portfolio e.g. Sourcing Plans, Recommendation Packs, Transaction Approval requests
Lead the Contract Management Process (administration, development, execution, management).
Build and maintain momentum and consistency with regards to key stakeholder engagement.
Lead in developing, implementing and managing vendor performance metrics, documents and reporting as part of a Supplier Relationship Management plan (metrics, compliance, continuous improvement plans).
Collaborate with relevant industry organisations, packaging and consumable suppliers and partners to stay on trend with sustainable innovation, technology, and legislative requirements.
Support in Identifying cost effective sustainable packaging solutions to meet customer and business requirements; work with extended packaging team to bring these projects to life
Maintain knowledge of packaging/waste industry to identify and manage sustainability challenges
What you’ll bring
A minimum 2 years experience in a retail/FMCG/manufacturing environment, demonstrating capability to be a team player.
Experience in Packaging - rigid and flexible plastics, fibre board and Apparel highly advantageous
Experience in Back of store Operations and consumable products
Stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
Strong relationship management and communication skills
High standard of English verbal and written communication skills
Time management skills – workload planning and prioritisation.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Self-reliant, proactive, anticipates and takes initiative to deliver results and meet customer expectations.
An understanding of total cost of ownership principles and value levers is highly advantageous.
Sound appreciation of category management principles and processes, with an understanding of contract law is highly advantageous.
